Case Study For Building

Report of one of the Surveys made by CLARA recently

Case studies given below are reported in a survey made by CLARA team for education project in partnership with Misereor. CLARA is running 3 centres in rural areas of Faisalabad. This survey was conducted to open a new fourth centre on report of some representatives of this area.

On getting a call from the family, wanted to open a centre providing non-formal education we went there to visit them on 23-07-2011 at about 11.00 am. When we entered in the house where working and school dropouts were gathered we were shocked to see that they were sitting under burning sunlight, without any shade. There was no electricity (load shedding) and water to drink. The temperature that day was above 48 degrees. But children were exited and happy to see us. Because they were thinking that they will get some help in form of books, uniform and a place to study.

When we saw them sitting under burning heat, we at once told them to come under the shade of the wall. Because there was no shady plant or spare room for them. The small babies were also with the younger ones. That moment was so painful and hurting that one cannot imagine. Infants, sick, hungry, thirsty and helpless poor children were waiting for help from CLARA with awaiting eyes.

We took interviews, had conversation with them and made some photographs. CLARA promised to help them. But we requested them to look for some other room on rent where these children can get basic education. After a long discussion it was decided that for the time being we can manage to look for one rental room for them.

But if CLARA will get a proper building for these poor and needy children, they can get quality education there. We request for a proper place/building for these children to sit, study and play and for their bright future. Where not only these, but many other children can get benefits.

These four children holding their younger brother or sister are not playing or having a photo shot. Instead, they are ON JOB. They are taking care of these babies. They are on full time jobs without any reward, benefit or stipend. Till 12:07pm (visible on pics), in temperatures almost more than 48 degrees, they are without food, shelter, care, and even cold water. Just imagine that how a kid can take care of an infant baby.

Given below is the picture of a baby suffering with high fever and MUMS (An infectious disease that makes the throat swell badly). His mother has gone outside for work.
