CLARA – Concern-Lane Alliance for Rural Areas
CLARA has started projects for women to learn the skill of tailoring/stitching, beauty parlor and computer education. The purpose of these programs is to uplift women to motivate them to share the burden of their families. A large number of students have been trained in the above mentioned fields and now they are earning for their families. Every year, a large group of young girls is benefitting from these projects. Thus, it has become a source of living and improving their economical condition. In the year 25 students got certificates at successful completion of their course. Along with the above mentioned courses of Beautician, Computer and Tailoring are the ongoing activities, which goes throughout the year.
One day workshop for Jookie Machine operating:
Young girls/ women after getting training from CLARA Resource Centre opt to get job in industrial sector. Since Faisalabad has a greater scope in this regard to have various units. So to fulfill the need to teach students to work on professional machines (specially used in hosiery units), a one day workshop was conducted in order to teach students to make them aware about how to operate this industrial machine.
The facilitator shared and focused on the overlock and Singer machine effectively and taught the students about over-lock, its function and parts. Students were happy, for this training had been very much helpful for them for learning.
One day workshop on Cutting skill
A one day workshop was organized on Cutting. The facilitator told the participants about different types of cutting and its rules. He also specifically shared about holding the necessary tools to keep during this process. The participants found this training very much beneficial in the practical work of stitching.
Exposure visit of trainees:
Exposure is a way to enhance the knowledge of the students at work place. CLARA organized an exposure visit of the trainees in March, 2014 to M. Tex Mill, Faisalabad. This unit is popular for its hosiery products such as socks and under garments. The objective of the visit was to make the participants aware about the working and expertise of the skilled people.
This visit proved to be a channel of learning about Tailoring, cutting, threading, packing & other processes. The facilitator described the functions of the departments and the processing of the unit.
